Chess in Schools:
Developing Critical Thinkers
Chess is a powerful educational tool beyond just a game.
It is common knowledge that first world nations have produced hundred of grandmasters and dozens of world champions. The main contribution in the development of chess is not entirely the style of players, but its emphasis on rigorous training and the study of the game.
For the Mogashoa Foundation, widely recognising chess as a sport is a must. By studying individual opponents to discover their strengths and weaknesses, ruthless objectivity blooms from one’s own potential. This teaching and idea becomes the foundations’ main focus and so as a result creates a ripple effect in the grander scheme of its mission.
Chess in schools touches the lives of hundreds of thousands of students in low-income homes across the world. Chess teaches critical thinking, problem solving, and the mental discipline needed to succeed in both school and in life. Follow our work to learn more about our programmes in schools.
